This was a fun movie to watch. Although the storyline was predictable and there were no plot surprises, it was still enjoyable.
Jenna is a waitress, and pie maker extraordinaire at Joe's Pie Diner. The movie begins on the day she discovers that she's pregnant by her controlling husband. She's been saving up until she has the money to leave him, but now the baby has complicated things. Further complications arrive in the form of an affair with her OB/GYN
Jenna has two co-workers with man-problems of their own, a cantankerous owner who shows up with complicated special orders, and Jenna's husband who treats her like a piece of property. The characters are fully fleshed out and developed. They are people in their own right, not just window dressing.
All of the actors turn in excellent performances, especially Andy Griffith as Joe, the owner of Joe's Pie Diner. Nathan Fillon is the slightly confused and dorky OB/GYN, and Jeremy Sisto is the dark and manic husband.
I said that the storyline was predictable and that there were no plot surprises, but the film still has a lot of depth. The film works its way to its conclusion with an undercurrent of sadness among all of the characters, yet there's a fairytale element that cannot be ignored, right up to the ending.
All in all, I give this movie a thumbs up.
~Easy says: Check it out
Sounds enjoyable. I'm adding it to my Netflix queue.
Hi, Easy. Thanks for stopping by my place. The movie looks interesting,
I'll need a list of things to keep me busy during lay off. Movies and
books will fit the bill.
Thanks for giving this one a good review and the thumbs-up. This one is on
my list of films to watch as I'm a bit of a Nathan Fillion fan :)
