Isolation

Isolation

Even though I like the zoo, Photo FridayI do feel some sympathy for the animals that are imprisoned for our viewing pleasure.  I'm sort of ambivalent about the whole thing.

I am too. I think the prairie dogs and otters are probably rather content; anything that normally lives in groups and gets to continue doing that? Probably happy. I'm sure some of the savannah herbivores, if they can reflect on their lives at all, are content.

But the carnivores that usually have large territories and the thrill of tearing the flesh off some baby wildebeest? I do get this tug when we see them at the zoo. That said, our zoo is better than many--recent events aside.
