    Do, A Deer

Just for a change, the Sunday view is actually from a Sunday.  I highly recommend you click on the picture and look at the larger version on my Flickr page.

Sunday ViewI took this picture last Easter Sunday at my mom's house. At one point there were 5 or 6 deer up in the woods behind her house. The deer were wary when I stepped out on the deck to take pictures, but they no longer run away, even when the dog is outside.

It really is amazing how well they blend in to the woods.  Several times I couldn't see them in the viewfinder on my camera, and I just had to point in the general direction of a landmark and hope that there was a deer in the picture.

I know what you mean--at first I only saw one deer in the photo.

Incidentally, this is a much better view than seeing a deer through your windshield as the deer thwumps into your car. Been there, done that--I saw a bunch of deer crossing the road ahead of me, slammed on my breaks, and actually managed to bring my car to a halt before hitting any deer. So just for good measure, one of them ran into me. Put a big dent right in front of the driver's door and gave me an up-close view as its head bounced off my windshield. It shook itself off and continued on--I'd like to think she at least had a good headache for the trouble she caused me.

~Easy says: Damn! There ARE two deer in the picture. I didn't see the other one until you pointed it out. Now I have to go and dig out the original so that I can re-crop it!
