Today's SPF is Ice Cream. But we're lucky here in St Louis because we have something that's better than ice cream. We have Ted Drewes!
Ted Drewes frozen custard is an obligatory stop if you're ever in St Louis, and it's an end-of-school tradition for some of the kids who've been together since kindergarten. This picture is from the last day of school last year. Both the teenager and the youngest child are in the picture with some friends who've been coming all along, and some friends who came for the first time this year.
Ted Drewes is best known for their concretes, frozen custard mixed with almost any ingredient you can imagine to a consistency that's similar to a milkshake, but thicker. It actually looks like concrete in a cup, and when it's served to you they briefly turn it upside down before they give it to you.
My favorites are:
I know that some visitors live in St Louis so I'd like to hear what you get at Ted Drewes when you go.
That's my SPF. Did you play?

PS - if you just HAVE to see an ice cream picture then scroll down (or go back 1 entry) and see the kid covered in ice cream at a Cubs game.
When I come to visit you someday, you better buy me one of those! they look
great!!
We've got something called Big Spoon - it's a frozen yogurt place where you
do everything yourself: choose the size you want, pick your flavor (or
flavors if you want to mix), and add the toppings of your liking. I believe
there are over 100 toppings to choose from, such as syrups, fruit, candy,
cookies, pie crusts and fillings, whipped cream... the list goes on. It's
delicious! Look for one if you're ever in California.
Nice! I have heard about Ted Drewes on the food network before. I have
never been to St. Louis, but I will be sure to check it out when I do make
it there.
Sounds like I'd be in trouble if there were a Ted Drewe's here.....
